The Holy Grail of the Beauty Trinity: Long Healthy Hair, a Fit Body and Flawless Skin

The past couple years I have been on a quest for longer hair, a fit body and flawless skin. I think most women (not all) would find all, if not at least one, of these things on their wishlist of self-improvement. I never saw myself achieving any of these things let alone all of them. I suffered with broken off shoulder length hair, acne, and baby fat for years! I tried everything under the sun, but nothing worked. I finally started to research and educate myself about hair growth. After see the results I went on to fitness. The last frontier was my skin. It has taken me years to research, test and improve the right formulas to give me what I call the "Holy Grail" of the  "Beauty Trinity".  I thought achieving this would be my ticket. To what? I don't know, but it seemed to make sense at the time. I recently start my own beauty company you can read about here.

My hair in 2014.

The problem with going on a self-improvement journey is that when you get to your goal, you don't really feel any different. I had been working out nearly everyday for a year, maintaining a healthy hair routine for two years, and perfecting my skin routine for just as long. The results we're so gradual there wasn't this "Aha!". There was daily improvements that suddenly added up to the goal.

The only thing that gave me the "Aha!" and really blessed me about reaching this goal was when other people would ask me what the secret was or advice on how to do the same thing. I absolutely loved sharing my "secrets" and encouraging them to take the first steps. This surprised me because I am not naturally social, but there is something that wakes up inside of a person when you see the thirst of another for knowledge. It forces you out of your shell. So here is my advice to reach your Beauty Trinity.

On the left was me after neglecting my workout and overeating for a few months. On the right is after I got back into my routine for 3 months.

1. Research: Honestly, without this there is nothing. I spent hours on youtube looking up skin, hair and fitness routines. Some of the videos were from channels that barely had hits, but their wisdom was profound. I also went on forums and read comments. I rarely used magazines or professional sites to help me. Why? Because they felt like recycled garbage just to fill their article quota. The real meat is with real people who have experiential knowledge to drop.

2. Start Small: It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the information out there, but you don't have to do everything. Just pick one or two things to start doing and commit to them. In the beginning I was trying so many things and buying so much stuff that I quickly felt like changing was beyond me. Pick something that is easy to incorporate in your routine and once you feel that is working for you then add another step. Or replace that first step if you did not see results. The goal is to keep moving forward.

3. Be Consistent: This has been the key for me. I committed to changing. That meant that I didn't do something for a day a week or a month, but an entire year. Yes, a year! I know that seems like a lot, but in my opinion you will not see real positive and lasting results unless you stick with it for a significant amount of time. Are there times when you are lazy? Yes, but letting your routine lapse once in awhile is not going to matter in the span of a year.

4. Don't Be Afraid of Set Backs: In the journey you will have set backs. It is a fact. I had many. Some that made me want to just quit, but then I thought about how far I've come. and how far will I be in a month, 6 months a year from now if I keep going. If you accept that nothing in life is perfect you will be prepared for the down times. Commitment to anything is a mental battle. Arm yourself with the tools dig yourself out the pit when you fall.

4. Be Patient: This is the hardest part. Physical change doesn't happen overnight nor quickly. There will be large blocks of time when you feel like nothing is happening. It's not true. Take pictures of yourself at regular intervals to track changes. Even if no one else sees them the pictures will tell the truth. Even if it is a small difference. At least you know that change is happening.

Who has time to make homemade skin remedies?

Getting perfect skin is a difficult task for most people. Sure, there are those that are naturally blessed with it. But for the rest of us we have to struggle for years to get decent skin, let alone perfect skin. If you look on google for the top rated skin issues this is what you'll find: How to get rid of blackheads. Home remedies for acne. Homemade face masks. How to make a face scrub at home? Everyone is looking for natural ways to get better skin. Why? Because people see the benefit of using a natural product rather than a store bought one that has been sitting on the shelves for weeks.

If you go to Pinterest there are a flood of natural and homemade face mask recipes. All of them are inspiring and look really easy to do. I even tried a few of them myself. The problem is that it's a lot of  guessing, buying ingredients and doing a bunch of work. That is okay occasionally, but to really get the benefits of a mask it must be used on a consistent basis. If something requires too much effort I just won't do it.

The reality however is that no one has time to diy homemade face mask recipes and scrubs. We lead busy lives and it's easier to just go to the store and buy something. The problem with store bought facial masks is that they have chemical fillers and preservatives. These are not the best stuff for anyones skin. Besides that, do you know why preservatives are in products? To keep them from spoiling. Why would they spoil? Because they are dead or dying. If it's a chemical product then you don't have to worry about that, but it's a chemical. However, if it is a product that contains fresh ingredients like fruits and veggies, well best believe that fruit cannot stay alive without being embalmed with a preservative. It's like frankenstein fruit. The Walking Dead Fruit....lol. Chemically preserved fresh ingredients are just zombies. They produce no benefits for your skin.

I knew there had to be a better way. That is I created Lavish Hand. We are the world's first beauty company that let's you customize beauty products online. Starting with our Dirty Face Mask. It's a facial beauty mask that you create on-line and have shipped it to your door. You can create your facial mask from dozens of natural ingredients like honey, oatmeal, avocado, cucumber, and even watermelon. We also have scrubs like walnut shell and jojoba meal. There are over 70 ingredients to choose from. The best part is that our ingredients are all wild harvested or natural fruits, veggies, botanicals, clays, milks and herbs that are flash dried at the peak of freshness. So you get these natural ingredients in a dry blend pack that you can mix with any liquid you want like: milk, fresh juice or just water. When you want to give yourself a facial just scoop out the powder, mix with your liquid put it on and you're done. That way you get a fresh mask every time you use it. So it's kinda like diy-ing it yourself but without all the work and hassle.

To mix your mask you can buy our reusable Dirty Face Kit. It is a dishwasher safe kit that allows you to mix and store your mask in the refrigerator for up to one week. Do you have to have it to make your mask? No, but it makes the process easier and fun.

Check us out when you get a chance. It's called the Dirty Face mask by Lavish Hand.
